As our very 1st interview we have chosen a very talented young DJ/Producer that has caught a lot of peoples eye over the last year , LIAM KEEGAN. We contacted him via twitter ( @DJLiamKeegan ) and being the nice bloke he is he agreed straight away.
1. How long have you been djing and producing ?
I've been DJing (In Bars/Clubs) Since 2001 And then i moved onto production around 03/04, I didnt start doing it seriously until about 2006/07
2. What was the 1st tune you remixed ? and what do you think of the remix now ?I did a remix of Casino - Only You, looking back it was pretty basic but i had fun making it. What i think of it now?i suppose it was the beginning of my journey into production so its a great reference from then to now
3. What tune have you had most fun remixing and why ?I really enjoyed remixing Caro Emerald - Stuck because it was a totally different style/genre of track i would of ever attempted to remixbut theres many remixes i've enjoyed working on this is just one thats stands out to me as im writing this
4. What has been your most memorable dj set youve played ?My favourite set hmmmm tough one, iv played so many places. I think The Aruba Bar in Walsall back in 2005/06 It was up there because we built it up from nothing into a really packed out night on a Thursday, but there's so many memorable sets its hard to write about them all
5. What track do you hate to admit you love ?I love Lionel Richie - Dancing On The Ceiling quality track, i love loads of the cheesy 80s stuff so i hate to admit that haha!6. If you could host your own event and money was no object where would you hold it and who would you have to perform and dj ?I would have a big open air event on the beach in Kuta,Bali and Headlining i would have Daft Punk, Nero, Rihanna, Skrillex, Calvin Harris, Deadmau5 and Chemical Brothers
7. Any up & coming producers you think people should keep an eye out for ?Yeah my friend Wez aka 'Last 3 Digits' has come along leaps and bounds the past year or so i can imagine you will be hearing a bit more from him also a lad called Dan Clare has been doing some good stuff lately
8. What is your all time favourite tune and why ?I couldn't name just one to be my all time favourite but Juliet Roberts - Caught In The Middle has you be up there with Armand Van Helden - U Dont Know Me
9. What is your current big tune ?Fredrik Nyberg - Breaking Up (Don & Palm Remix) reminds me of early house just has a great vocal and 'hands up factor'
10. Who do you most want to collaborate on a track with ?Skrillex i think that would be a interesting collab!
11. Whats in the pipe line for Liam Keegan for the rest of the year ?I dont know whats happening from one day to the next to be honest but gig wise i will be back in Leicester the end of Nov and im playing up in Glasgow for a night called Love Electro on Boxing night then (Still TBC) Jetting off to Bali then onto Australia (Gold Coast,Melbourne and Sydney) NYE/NYD. Track wise i have a few originals in the studio waiting to be finished plus a few collabs and as always more remixes on there way too!!!
